Punta Gorda FL-Village Brewhouse

So this is a fun restaurant that we hadn’t been to in years so it was time to give it another try. This was a hot, sticky day so easier to get a dock space at Fisherman’s Village – we have had problems in the past.  So the boat slips run alongside the side of the building and are somewhat limited considering the number of shops and restaurants.  You need to be good at parallel parking the boat but we had that in our training, right?

Docks:

If you’re looking for a chill spot to hang out with your friends, grab a bite and enjoy some craft beers, you might want to check out The Village Brewhouse in Punta Gorda. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with live music on some nights and trivia on others. The outdoor seating is perfect for enjoying the Florida weather and the view of the harbor. However, since we just got off the boat and the heat was unbearable (97 degrees at the time), we headed right for the indoors.

The hostess took us right to a table with a waterfront view though.

The View:

This is a cozy and laid-back place with a friendly staff and a great selection of food and drinks. They have a variety of burgers, sandwiches, salads, pizzas and more, all made with fresh ingredients and served in generous portions. I ordered the Greek Falafel Salad, but not before asking what a “Falafel” was,  which they indicated are fried crispy balls made of chickpeas and spices that they put on top of the salad.  Although we were doing low carb this sounded interesting so I decided to give it a  try. The salad was delicious but the Falafel balls had a strong taste of chili powder, and could have benefited from some fresh garlic and herbs instead.

Andy ordered chicken wings and coleslaw and thought that both menu items were about the best he ever tasted.

The beer menu is impressive, with over 20 taps of local and imported brews, plus bottles and cans of your favorite brands. You can also try their house-made root beer or ginger ale, or one of their signature cocktails.  The Village Brewhouse is a great place to unwind and have fun with your buddies, or to meet new people and make new friends. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
